“Eating on the Go” is just part of every day life for most families. We pick up, drop off, take the kids to various classes, go to meetings, go to work.. it’s endless! We don’t have time to eat at home, so we must “Eat on the Go”.
Do you ever stop to think how much WASTE we create by doing this?
The average North American generates 4.43 pounds of trash every day, and single-use products are a big part of that. Tackling your family’s use of disposables may seem intimidating at first, but there are so many ‘enviro options’ on the market now that your family can easily adopt into your lifestyle.
Try Keeping These Essential Items in your Car at All Times:
1. DRINKS : Reuseable coffee mugs and water bottles. When you need a quick coffee, grab your mug. Remember most disposable coffee cup lids cannot be recycled. They may be made out of recycled plastic, but that plastic can’t be recycled.
2. NAPKINS: Keep cloths napkins in your car instead of using paper napkins or paper towels. Saves trees and less to biodegradable for the planet.
3. STRAWS: Straws are a big problem on the planet. They cannot be recycled, so they just pollute our planet. Instead, bring your own STAINLESS STEEL STRAWS. Packs usually come with a straw cleaner as they can be tough to clean.
4. CUTLERY, PLATES & CHOPSTICKS: The less plastic cutlery and plates you use = better for the planet. Bring cutlery and chopsticks with you in the car and pack them in an easy to make UTENSIL HOLDER. Check out this great tutorial from Centsationalgirl.com on how you can make your own to keep in the car. Keep your straws, cutlery and even CHOPSTICKS in it.
Or you could try a great green utensil called The ECO TENSIL. They have (2) items to choose from: the Eco Taster and the Eco Spoon. Both are made from renewable, moisture resistant paperboard with no GMO corn products. They use forested, milled and manufactured in the U.S. And they are compostible.
**I see them as a great utensil alternative for restaurants or fast food places.
What do you do with all of the dirty items?
I keep a bin in my car for dirty items. Simply wash them when needed and put them back in the car. That’s the key. Putting them back in the car.
So now you’re saying WHERE can I buy all of these Eco Solutions?
