Rudi’s Bakery has Great Gluten-Free Options for Carb Lovers

Do you have a “Gluten-Free” diet? Perhaps you know someone who does. Did you know that one in 133 people have celiac disease, a genetic condition resulting in intestinal damage whenever they ingest gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. At one time it was challenging to find gluten-free products. But these days it’s easy to find great gluten-free goodies from fabulous companies such as RUDI’S BAKERY.

Here’s my interview with Rudi’s Bakery. 

1. Can you tell me in a few sentences what the focus of your business is? We are committed to baking high-quality organic and gluten-free breads that contain the healthiest ingredients possible. Right from the beginning, our mission has been to bring families nutritious, flavourful, preservative-free baked goods and that has remained at the heart of our company. 



2. Who is your market? We make our bread with families in mind. We know that all parents want the best for their children so we make gluten-free bread that only contains the best ingredients. Our breads are free of preservatives, emulsifiers, fillers and GMO’s. While Rudi’s Gluten-Free bread can be enjoyed by all we have a strong connection with the gluten-free community and take pride in serving this growing population in Canada and the U.S.

3. How long have you been in business? We started as Rudi’s Bakery in 1976, driven by our belief that living a healthy life leads to happiness. In 1991 we became an early leader in the organic industry through our move to organic ingredients. In 2010, after working with experts and consumers to perfect our recipe, we introduced a line of Gluten-Free products that have the taste, look and feel of regular bread. All of our breads are certified Gluten-Free and carry the recognizable Gluten Free Certification Organization (GFCO) GF Symbol for Canada and the U.S. Our breads hit Canadian stores in 2012.

The launch of Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery is a natural extension of our commitment to baking on the bright side by creating healthy and wholesome breads the whole family can enjoy.  We hope to give families that suffer from Celiac disease and gluten intolerances a healthy, brighter outlook by letting them truly enjoy bread again. Our all-natural gluten-free products feature a variety of healthy ingredients, like sunflower seeds, millet, fiber and flax.

5. How do you think your eco business has or will impact your community or is helping people leave less of a footprint on our planet? We believe in natural living. All our gluten-free breads are made with only the highest quality, all-natural ingredients. Most breads available today are filled with unnecessary additives such as high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, GMOs, emulsifiers and trans fats that make each loaf look the same and add to the shelf life of the bread. Our breads are free of all these offenders; we rely on natural goodness (what more could you ask for?) to create whole foods.

They are free of chemicals, preservatives and GMO’s.

7. Is there anything else you want to include? While some people eat gluten-free by choice, there is an increasing number of Canadians who eat gluten-free out of necessity. The rates of Celiac disease have nearly doubled in the last 25 years in western countries. It is thought that over 330,000 Canadians have celiac cisease and another 3 to 6 % of the population live with Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivities.

May is Celiac Awareness Month. Both this month and throughout the year, we are proud to support Canada’s gluten-free community by wholesome, delicious bread they can trust.
